Tukey Returns to Battle Creek |

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of pitcher Alex Tukey.
Alex Tukey: 6'4" – 175lb, B/R-T/R, RHP, Minnesota (RS Junior.), San Diego, Calif.
Bombers fans will see a familiar face on the mound this season as pitcher Alex Tukey is returning to Battle Creek for his 3rd season. In 8 appearances for the Golden Gophers this season, Tukey is 1-1 with a 2.92 ERA. During the 2012 season Tukey made five appearances striking out 4 and allowing just 2 earned runs.
During his playing days at Torrey Pines High School, Alex was named Honorable-Mention All-Conference and tied for a team-high 15 appearances. He was part of a team that finished 22-10 and 12-3 against conference opponents. He helped Torrey Pines make the sectional playoffs. He is the brother of former Minnesota swimmer Valerie Tukey. Alex says his most memorable sports moment was pitching four shutout innings against Poway High School, a team that had not been shut out in nine years. He is majoring in communications.

Franchise Sets Record for Single-Season Firework Displays
BATTLE CREEK, MI-The Battle Creek Bombers, members of the prestigious Northwoods League, unveiled their 2013 Promotional Schedule today, and announced that single-game tickets are now on sale for all 35 home games. Tickets may be purchased online at any time, are available by calling the Battle Creek Bombers at (269) 962-0735, or in person at the Bombers offices located at 189 Bridge Street, Battle Creek.
The first opportunity to make it to the ballpark this season will be on a "Pick-Your-Seat-Day" at C.O. Brown Stadium in the Bailey Park Sports Complex from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th, 2013.
"This day is a great event for Bombers fans to pick out the seats they would like to have for the biggest Bombers game dates throughout our 2013 season," stated Craig Campbell, Bombers ticketing manager. Season tickets, as well as mini-plans, birthday parties, and group outings will be available to reserve throughout the event.
The Bombers will also hold open auditions to perform the national anthem at a Battle Creek Bombers game this summer.
This season the Bombers promotional schedule includes eleven post-game Fireworks displays, setting a new Northwoods League single-season record. The Fireworks Display schedule is highlighted by Red, White, and BOOM Night July 3rd, 2013, the most extravagant display of the year. Fireworks will now become a ballpark staple Wednesday's courtesy of FireKeepers Casino Hotel and Saturday's courtesy of State Farm Insurance. The Bombers themed weekly promotional schedule also includes five Stock Market Mondays (where prices on our most popular items "crash" throughout the game), five Twinkie Dog and Tiger Ticket Tuesdays (BOGO on all Twinkie Dogs and win complimentary Detroit Tigers tickets), five Wednesday Firework Displays, four Thirsty Thursdays ($1 Domestics and just $2 Crafts), four Freebie Fridays (premium giveaway items such as Bobbleheads, Jerseys and other items as well), six Saturday Firework Displays, and six Kids Extravaganza Sundays (kids play catch on the field, run the bases, and meet their favorite Bomber players for post-game autographs).
The Bombers begin their home slate on Wednesday May 29th, featuring a Magnet Schedule Giveaway and the first Fireworks Display of the season. The following night the celebration continues with "Thirsty Thursday". This season Thirsty Thursday's feature our "Michigan Music Legend Series", and the Bombers will start by featuring the music of Michigan man Bob Seger. Other Michigan legends honored throughout the season include Kid Rock on July 18th and Madonna on August 1st. Another very special Thursday added to the schedule this year is "St. Patty's Day in July", presented by McGonigles Pub & Grill, slated for July 11th.
The Bombers will also feature three Bobblehead Giveaways during the 2013 season. To begin the Bombers Bobblehead Series, a "Tony Sanchez Bobblehead" (#4 Overall Pick of the 2009 MLB Draft) will be given away on May 31st, courtesy of Flagstar Bank. The second bobblehead item will be the "The Binder BobbleNeck"; a Giraffe BobbleNeck courtesy of Binder Park Zoo on June 30th. The final bobblehead will commemorate mascot Moe Skeeter with a "Grand Slam Moe Skeeter Bobblehead" courtesy of Auto-Lab of Battle Creek on July 19th.
Another new featured giveaway this year will be a custom team jersey giveaway to the first 500 fans on Friday, August 2nd courtesy of Bronson Battle Creek. Also featured this night will be the teams Host Family Appreciation and Little League night.
Other special giveaway nights include four Thunderstix giveaways occurring June 2nd, June 9th, June 18th, and July 28th. Team Posters, including the 2013 Bombers Schedule, will be given away June 3rd courtesy of J-Ad Graphic. This season the Baseball Card Giveaway Series also returns to Battle Creek, with three separate giveaway nights courtesy of Allegra Print and Imaging. The first edition will be given away on June 11th, the second edition on July 2nd, and the third edition on July 21st. Also, as a special tribute to our home state of Michigan, the Bombers will host a "Pure Michigan" night on June 21st. As a part of this very unique night, the franchise will also give away "The Mitten State" BBQ Oven Mitts.
New to the promotional schedule this season will be a "Pool Giveaway", presented by Woods Pools. An above ground pool will be on display all season long, until a lucky winner is drawn on July 31st. Any fan selected must be present on July 31st to be eligible. Fans can sign up at any Bomber home game prior to the giveaway.
Dog-friendly promotions will return to C.O. Brown Stadium on Monday, July 8th with Bark in the Park. This popular event allows fans to bring their canines out to the ballpark to enjoy a Monday night baseball game together. Special guests for this evening include the Battle Creek K-9 Police Dog and the world's tallest dog, Battle Creek's own Zeus. Special on-field promotions will be geared towards man's best friend, highlighted by Police Dogs tackling a would-be-base-stealer. In honor of all the dogs that will be joining us, Hotdogs (limit of two per order) will be sold for just a quarter.
This season, celebrate Christmas early on Friday, June 23rd with "Half-Way to Christmas". The Bombers are turning the ballpark into a winter wonderland with a special appearance from Santa Claus, and even his live reindeer. The Bombers will also feature a very special Christmas Ornament Giveaway, presented by Nu-Twist.
The Battle Creek Bombers will also feature three Custom Game Jersey Nights this season. At the conclusion of each night, all custom jerseys will be available and put up for auction. The first jersey, worn on July 10th, will be for "Strikeout Cancer Night" presented by Bronson Battle Creek. Bomber players will be wearing special purple jerseys for this night with proceeds benefiting the Cancer Care Center of Bronson Battle Creek. On July 19th, Bomber players will wear special blue jerseys, in honor of "Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Night" with proceeds benefiting Juvenile Diabetes. And finally, on July 28th, the Bombers will feature unique Super Hero themed jerseys, in celebration of "Super Hero Night". The team will wear one of a kind Superman themed Bombers jersey that will be auctioned off after the game.

Battle Creek, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers are excited to announce that their partnership with State Farm Insurance will continue for the 2013 season. They will present fireworks every Saturday night throughout the summer. The Bombers are also pleased to announce that FireKeepers Casino Hotel will now present fireworks every Wednesday Night. BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of pitcher Zach Waters from the University of Georgia.
Zach Waters: 6'2" – 195lb, B/R-T/R, RHP, Georgia (Junior.), Woodstock, GA.
Waters has sat out the 2013 season due to NCAA transfer rules after spending the past two years at East Tennessee State. As a two-way pitcher/catcher, Waters enjoyed great success on the mound. He made six relief appearances in his freshman year going 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA. As a sophomore he made 10 appearances on the mound compiling a 1-1 record and a 5.28 ERA with just 5 walks and 11 strikeouts. As a catcher he threw out 22% of base-stealers (8-of-36). He also earned Atlantic Sun All-Academic honors.
During his time at Etowah High School he was a two-year letterman. On the diamond he hit .368 as a senior with 7 home runs and 40 RBIs while throwing out 66% of base runners (21-32). He also earned All-County and All-Georgia Dugout Club honors. He is majoring in business.

Bombers Sign Berman and Cable from Western Michigan |

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signings of pitcher Gabe Berman and infielder Brandon Cable from nearby Western Michigan University.
Gabe Berman (Left): 6'2" – 220lb, B/R-T/R, RHP, Western Michigan (Fr.), Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Brandon Cable (Right): 6'2" – 205lb, B/R-T/R, INF, Western Michigan (Fr.), Grand Rapids, Mich.
Gabe Berman has enjoyed a stellar freshman campaign for the Broncos. In 14 games this season, Berman has compiled a 1-1 record and a team best 2.96 ERA. He has struck out 16 while walking just 10.
His high school career was one to remember. As a junior at Andover High School he received all-league, all-district and all-region honors while striking out 105 with a 1.43 ERA. Berman shined on the mound in his senior season. He struck out 97 with a 1.89 ERA and compiled all-league, all-district, all-region and all-state honors. He led his team to a district championship before their run ended in the regional finals. He is majoring in athletic training.
Brandon Cable has appeared in 35 games so far this season for Western Michigan. In 82 at bats he has compiled a .171 batting average and 7 RBIs. He has stolen 5 bases and has an .875 fielding percentage.
It was the bat of Cable that won him multiple accolades during his career at Hudsonville High School. In his junior season Brandon was named all-conference, all-district and all-state and was a Dream Team selection. He batted .514 with 6 home runs, 6 triples, 15 doubles, 37 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He won 2 conference, 2 district and 1 regional championship in 3 seasons. His grandfather, Glen, played baseball at Central Michigan University and his father, Curt, played baseball at Western Michigan.

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of Spring Arbor University infielder Mark Weist.
Mark Weist: 6'4" – 210lb, B/R-T/R, INF, Spring Arbor (Jr.), Saline, Mich.
Weist joins the Bombers as a rising senior for the 2013 summer. In his two-plus years at Spring Arbor University, an NAIA Division I school in Spring Arbor, Michigan, Weist has amassed astounding numbers. The 6'4" shortstop hit .390 as a freshman, .443 as a sophomore, and is currently hitting .404 as a junior. His three-year collegiate career includes 15 home runs, 108 RBIs, 44 doubles, and 12 triples.
As a senior at Saline High School in 2010, Weist was named to All-Region, District, and Conference squads. His defensive skills have earned him several awards as well, including a gold glove at the shortstop position after his freshman year at Spring Arbor.
After a 3-9 start to the season, Weist and the Cougars have bounced back to earn a spot in the NCCAA regionals boasting a 27-16 record. Their first matchup comes against Cedarville University beginning May 10th.

Arkansas Reliever Returns to Battle Creek |

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers have announced the signing of Arkansas redshirt freshman pitcher Brian Heldman.
Brian Heldman: 6'3" – 180lb, B/R-T/R, RHP, Arkansas (Rs Fr.), Round Rock, Texas.
Heldman redshirted the 2012 season for the Razorbacks before coming to Battle Creek for the summer of 2012. He led the Bombers in relief appearances last season compiling a 2.12 ERA in 28 outings. Heldman is not afraid to go after hitters as he led the team throwing first pitch strikes 70 percent of the time.
While attending Stony Point High School in Round Rock, Heldman helped his team capture two district championships in his freshman and senior seasons. He possesses the school records for career saves, single season saves, and single season appearances. Over the course of his 43 game high school career, he compiled eight wins to just two losses with a 1.02 ERA. Heldman looks to help provide the Bombers with some quality relief work for a second straight season

The Northwoods League is coming to YouTube and will present Live Games throughout the 2013 season through its own YouTube channel

Rochester, MN – The Northwoods League is pleased to announce it is launching a YouTube channel this summer that will provide fans with more than 560 NWL games streamed live during the 2013 regular and post season on the Northwoods League YouTube channel and through a YouTube video player on northwoodsleague.tv. The partnership was announced by Dick Radatz, Jr., Northwoods League President.
"This partnership allows us to continue as the leader of live streaming baseball games at this level of baseball," said Radatz. "We are extremely excited about the exposure this alliance will give the Northwoods League."
The Northwoods League season on YouTube will lead off with opening night on Wednesday, May 29th, with all 16 teams in action. The eight games on opening night will feature the 2012 defending Summer Collegiate World Series Champion La Crosse Loggers along with the other 15 NWL teams boasting the top collegiate players from around the country.
Throughout the season, Northwoods League fans won't miss a moment of live regular and post season action as all of the league's games will be available either online through your PC or on the Northwoods League's app for mobile devices and tablets.
In addition, fans will be able to access the live games on the Northwoods League's YouTube channel via all of the league's 16 team web sites. They can also access archived versions of the live games to view on demand through the YouTube channel and the league's web site shortly after the conclusion of the contests. Other available content will include highlights and pre and post-game recaps from the league's studio in Rochester, MN.
