BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers announced their complete 2013 schedule today. The 70-game schedule is the largest in summer collegiate baseball and begins on May 29th at C.O. Brown Stadium when the 2011 NWL champion Bombers take on the 2012 champion La Crosse Loggers. The 2013 season will mark the teams 7th season in Battle Creek and 20th season of play for the Northwoods League.
New this year to the schedule is interdivisional play where the Bombers will take on the Rochester Honkers (MN) and Waterloo Bucks (IA) of the North Division. The Bombers will play each team four times with a two game home and road schedule slated.
All Monday-Saturday games will start at 7:05pm with Sunday games starting at 5:05pm with the only exception being the July 30th 11am Camp day. The team will also host the Wisconsin Woodchucks for their Fireworks Extravaganza on Wednesday, July 3rd which will include a world class fireworks display following the game. A complete promotional schedule will be announced later this spring.
The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Wednesday, July 3rd with the second half beginning the following day. Just like most minor leagues, the first and second half division winners will meet in a best-of-three Divisional Playoff Series on August 12-14 with the Summer Collegiate World Series slated for August 15-17. The Northwoods League's 19th All-Star game will take place on July 23 in Eau Claire, WI.
The North division will be made up of the Waterloo Bucks, Willmar Stingers, Mankato MoonDogs, Duluth Huskies, Alexandria Beetles, Rochester Honkers, Thunder Bay Border Cats, and St. Cloud Rox. The South Division will include the Lakeshore Chinooks, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Wisconsin Woodchucks, Green Bay Bullfrogs, Eau Claire Express, Madison Mallards, La Crosse Loggers and Battle Creek Bombers.
